Apple Found Guilty Of E-Book Price Fixing

It was reported today that a federal judge ruled that Apple is guilty of conspiring with major publishers to raise e-book prices which is a violation of antitrust law.  Federal judge Denise Cote stated in her ruling that “The Plaintiffs have shown that the Publisher Defendants conspired with each other to eliminate retail price competition in order to raise e-book prices, and that Apple played a central role in facilitating and executing that conspiracy." The other publishers Apple conspired with include Hachette, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin and Simon & Schuster which have agreed to settlements in early 2013.
